Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code §§ 6250), I hereby request the following records:
Response-times to all reports of abuse of children under the care of the Children and Family Services division since 2011.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Your request is relating to “data” and not “documents” and I am uncertain as to if we have such data since each county has its own CPS (Child Protective Services) who handle processing of child abuse complaints. I will inquire within our Department and will get back to you.

Thank you so much for your response. You were correct in your e-mail in noting that I am looking for data, not documents. The link you sent me on 12/08 was a handbook of sorts but did not include any data. Are you sure the state does not collect any data on child abuse complaints from the individual counties?

For complaints regarding Child Welfare Services you may pull up annual reports here: http://www.fosteryouthhelp.ca.gov/ or contact the Office of Foster Care Ombudsman for this information.
For other types of complaints from the general public, you may refer to the Public Inquiry and Response Unit http://www.dss.ca.gov/dsssource/entres/admin/mssb/res/pdf/PIAR_MoreInfo.pdf
