From:

Mr. Nash:
Your request will require a considerable amount of time and effort. It is estimated that it will take at least 10 hours (at $30.00 per hour) to research and burn a CD-ROM. The ultimate costs could be higher. Prior to beginning this the City will require a deposit of $300.00 and we will need to discuss a time-frame on when this can be completed. If the actual costs are greater than the deposit you will be required to pay the difference prior to the request being mailed to you and if less the over payment will be returned. Please let us know if you intend to go forward with this request and if so when we can expect the deposit so that we can discuss when the documents could be available.

We stand ready to comply with your request and look forward to hearing from you.

Good morning Dawn,
I will provide additional information so it will hopefully reduce time spent on the request and reduce the inflated cost od the information whixh I have to admit is discouraging especially after other foia requests with the same amount of time/effort spent on them at little or no cost to me the requester.
I do not necessitate need officer Thompson’s body camera footage and officer buzzard I need his from 3:15pm to 6:30-7pm ish Communication from his from can be from 12:30pm til 3:30 pm and 4pm-7pmish. I’m looking for communication specifically about me. The video inside of the pd is from 4pm until approx 7pm. On The 11/27 video at the pd I believe you can find after 4:15 and until 7pm ish. The inside the pd video for 12/1 is from 8:30 pm until 11:30ish and is interaction with officer hill. This video takes place in magistrates office inside of bvpd..
The police reports are for claims to my insurance based on theft. I have been trying to get some of them for over a year and some of the officers have advised to me foia the reports. Do victims typically pay for these when they have a theft from their home or an assault?
Lastly I ask that you waive any associated fees and deposit requests. As a tax paying citizen of Buena Vista I feel I also hope this quote is not retaliatory action towards me for seeking needed information but Hopefully this will reduce the deposit amount based on previous requests provided by your office being significantly lover and secondly based on other extensions of local law enforcement providing foia information at no cost to me. Hopefully, the timeFrames provided above will significantly reduce research time and thus the deposit you quoted, I am requesting that you waive or significantly reduce the quoted deposit as I know the city isn’t trying to discourage my request or prevent me from filing insurance claims for the items stolen from my property. This significant increase could be perceived as retaliation and meant to discourage my requests which I am hoping is not the case and thereforeI again request that you reconsider and revise the quoted amount or preferably wave all associated fees.
Thanks
Tracey
