Pursuant to Montana Public Records Act, Article II, § 9, I hereby request the following records:
Any and all available dog licensing and registration data for animals within your jurisdiction.
Please include all available segregable data, including but not limited to:
• the type of animal
• the breed of the pet
• the pet's date of birth
• the pet's name
• the owner's address or applicable zip code
• any other available notes
Also, I am requesting that the data be sent in Excel format.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

This afternoon, I received this information.
Please let me know if you wish for Animal Control staff to continue with your request. The approximate cost is between $400 - $500.
The only information will be as follows:
• the type of animal
• the breed of the pet
• the pet's date of birth
We will charge .02 for each record then $20.00/hour for creating report, capturing data, and sending out. "current licensed" animals as of December 31, 2017 will include a bit over 10,000 records, plus four - six hours of staff time.
Approximate "current licensed dogs and cats" 2017: approximately 11, 000 - 12,000 or more x .03 = $330.00 - $360.00
Approximate staff time to create, capture and send data - 4 - 6 hours = $80.00 - $120.00
PLEASE ADVISE WHETHER YOU WISH STAFF TO CONTINUE WITH RECORDS REQUEST. A DEPOSIT WILL LIKELY BE REQUESTED.
