Pursuant to the Alaska Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all internal audits of commissary conducted at any facility under the jurisdiction of this agency from January 1, 2014 through the date this request is processed. Please include any and all reviews of and reports regarding the following:

a. Examination of sales records
b. Verification of balances
c. Verification of billing accuracy
d. Procurement procedures
e. Examination of disbursement records
f. Inventory of stock
g. Accuracy of records

Please also provide any and all external audits by Department staff not employed at the institution for the aforementioned period, as well as any and all other reports submitted to the Director and Superintendent regarding the Commissary Fund Account.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Hi Sherrie,

Thanks so much for your response. Could you please clarify which agencies would have audit information available? The DOC's guidelines (http://www.correct.state.ak.us/pnp/pdf/302.11.pdf) suggest that such audits occur, though I understand if your office is not responsible for tracking such information.

Good Afternoon,

This is the second response to this request. Although audits are mentioned in the State of Alaska Department of Corrections policy 302.11, the policy says the department MAY conduct audits. The department has not been conducting audits and we do not have any information to provide for this request.
