MuckRock users come from different walks of life and all parts of the country, united in the idea that government by the people must be a government that is open to the people. Thanks to that belief - and a helpful community of committed FOIA filers - MuckRock users have now collectively filed 10,000 successful FOIA and public records requests.

Since 2010, MuckRock has helped thousands of journalists, activists, researchers, and members of the public file over 25,000 public records requests with one goal: To make government more transparent and our democracy more informed.

Since our founding six years ago, MuckRock has focused on one mission: To be the easiest way to request, analyze and share government documents in order to make politics more transparent and our democracy more informed. We’ve recently restructured into a non-profit to continue to serve that mission for years to come.
