Good Morning,

Thank you for contacting the Nevada Department of Education. I have contacted the individuals in charge of the Homeless Education program, and they provided the two attached documents. The first is a copy of the grant application and the second is the most recent information on the numbers of homeless students in Nevada School Districts. As for the final part of your question, regarding research, I was provided the information below:

“The numbers of homeless students for Nevada, are already public and they are posted every year to our NDE website-Homeless Page. These are determined by CSPR data, required every year by the National Center for Homeless Education. I have included a link for convenience (http://www.doe.nv.gov/Homeless/Home/). Each district, as students are enrolled, flags them as homeless. The individual student names are not shared, but each district is required to upload the numbers into BigHorn, (the NDE platform) for data one time per year.”

Thank you for contacting the Department of Education. If you need additional information, please be sure to contact us.

Best,

Gabriel Hill
