Hello Heather,

This email responds to your status checked submitted by fax for your FOIA submitted to NSA/CSS on or about 3 Dec. 2013 for "processing notes" in FOIA Case 74833." As noted in our initial correspondence, your request was assigned a temporary case number, 2013-72. This temporary number has been replaced with permanent tracking number Case 76119.

Please be advised that, due to a significant increase in FOIA requests, we are experiencing delays in processing. Furthermore, any responsive documents that we locate will be placed on our backlog queue for review, which is substantial at this time. We apologize for these delays, and appreciate your patience as we make every effort to process each FIOA as efficiently as possible.
Regards,
Cindy Blacker

Ms. Akers-Healy,

The case is still in one of our complex backlog queues, pending assignment to an approval authority. Please be advised that each case must go through at least two levels of review before a release determination can be made. Given the volume of our backlog and the fluctuation of queue placement due to consults from other agencies that predate your request, it's likely that your case may not be assigned to the release authority within the next 12 months. At this time, the estimated completion date is approximately three 3-4 years.

We appreciate your patience thus far.
