Any advice on how to limit the scope of a request? Normally I ask for everything I can get (the FBI is typically cool with this), but the DEA claims this is too broad.

How can I narrow the scope of a request? Do I have to, or I can I appeal for all documents directly? Where is “broadness” defined?

This is the request in question: https://www.muckrock.com/foi/united-states-of-america-10/alexander-shulgin-dea-11979/

Hello - looping back to unanswered questions. For this one, all I can say is that at least you’re in good company - https://www.muckrock.com/search/?q=Shulgin&submit=Search All requests concerning Dr. Shulgin have been either NRD or rejected. Several of the requests have been very, very specific, leading me to believe the possibility that that the files have been destroyed. If you’d like to talk about approaching more state/local agencies to go that route, email me at jpat@muckrock.com
