How would I structure a request? What official would I contact?

Michael Morisy

What kind of information are you interested in?

Ryan Carboni

I want to request Santa Monica College’s 2013 and 2012 messages from reportlineweb.

Troy Carter

I think you would send or deliver a request to the SMJC President’s office citing the California Public Records Act. As a former employee of the Chancellor’s Office in Sacramento I can assure you that it would not have the records you seek. If you need help following up on the issue, depending on what it is, you can work with the: Student Government, Board of Trustees, or Academic Senate. All at the Santa Monica level.

https://www.reportlineweb.com/Welcome.aspx?Client=smc “Santa Monica College’s web reporting system is a confidential and anonymous solution for reporting illegal and unethical activities in the work place. ”

how would they not keep track of those documents?

Shawn Musgrave

Even if the submissions are anonymous, they are not necessarily exempt from release pursuant to a records request.

Troy Carter

My point was only that the Chancellor’s Office in Sacramento would not keep the records.

Ryan Carboni

I never said I was contacting the Chancellor. Are you simply trolling now?

Minor update: It’s been ten business days since I’ve emailed the person in charge of publicity for SMC, and no response. I’ve sent new emails, addressed to SMC’s lawyer, President, and Public Affairs person.

I know SMC contracts with gmail for email, so it definitely didn’t get caught in the spam filter. I will probably sue if this keeps up. Any advice?

I have contacted my local bar association. It seems to be taking an unusual amount of time to refer me a lawyer.

How long should I expect a bar association to refer a lawyer to me?

They have acknowledged my request but they haven’t acted on it.
