Public access to government data and websites has been increasingly limited after President Donald Trump took office. Despite the administration restricting access to these government sites and its underlying data, organizations and individuals have been working to preserve this data.

MuckRock wanted to know the inside story of the removal of federal government data and documents, with suggestions from you. You submitted what agencies that have taken down records or data and what you want to know about more about these removals.

In response, we’ve started filing FOIA requests to the following agencies: FEMA, USAID, the U.S. Forest Service, the Department of Justice and the Trade and Development Agency.

We’ll keep you updated with records we get back from federal agencies and get behind the real story behind the removal of federal data.
