Over 500 volunteers have sent in suggestions to our MuckRock Assignment asking to submit local police departments as candidates for more transparency around the money spent by police departments to settle or battle lawsuits.

Browse the map of locations where requests have already been filed below.

All of the requests linked from the MuckRock project page. If you’re logged in, go to the top of any request page and hit “Follow” to receive updates on a request’s progress as communications and records come in.

So far, one request has already been completed: Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office told us that they had no instances of misconduct and no responsive documents.
