Super Bowl LIII FCC complaints are mostly people mad about Adam Levine’s nipples

Federal Communications Commission complaints about the Super Bowl are an annual tradition here at MuckRock, and after a string of rather lackluster offerings in recent years, we’re happy to report that the latest batch shows the country is back in fine moral outrage form.

While the 94 complaints, originally released to The Hollywood Reporter, cover a lot of familiar territory, such as scary commercials …

sexy commercials …

and scary, sexy commercials …

the vast majority of the ire is directed at the halftime show, more specifically Maroon 5’s frontman Adam Levine’s nipples.

And we mean that very literally.

Reader, we cannot stress to you enough how often the word ‘nipple’ appears in these pages.

While a fair number of the complaints called out the FCC for the obvious “double standard” when it comes to wardrobe malfunctions …

it’s clear that some folks were not exactly coming from a place of legitimate grievance …

and at least one person appears to have been deliberately trying to appear in this article.
