To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

I request any and all emails and/or attachments, sent or received on the Mayor's email or the emails of those who directly report to the Mayor
between Jan. 20th and present that make any mention or concern:
Federal Funding and Grants to the city of Worcester
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

In particular I am interested in, but not limited to, any and all electronic or written communication between City Councilor Michael Gaffney and the Mayor that mention or concern these respective topics.

I also request any and all presentations, memos and reports created between Jan. 20 and present to address these respective topics.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Grace Raih

Ms. Raih,

I just saw this today as the Mayor’s email account is not monitored 24/7.

At present, I’m unaware of any FOIA request filed earlier in the month. Was it submitted to the Mayor’s email account? Or a general FOIA request account. Call me on my office line and to discuss. Just want to clarify what exactly you’re looking for so I can help fulfill your request.

Thanks, Dan

Grace,

I have spoken with our Tech Services folks who do the work for FOIAs like yours.

Using your parameters, their search turned up 374 emails.

The estimate for the work associated with filling this FOIA is $326.66. This may change as the work of filling this request is done.

If you agree to this estimate, Tech Services can begin their work. When they are completed with their work and a price is finally decided upon, you will be contacted.

You may pay by check. If you or your organization would like to make the check out to "the City of Worcester," and mail it to me in the Mayor's office, I will see that your request is processed after payment has cleared.

Thank you for reaching out to the Mayor's office and do let me know if you'd like us to proceed.

Daniel,

I appreciate all of this information. Moving forward, I would like to limit my request to the most recent 50 emails that contain the keyword "Sanctuary City".

Thank you,

Grace

Grace,

I’ll see what I can do. There will still be a cost associated with this I assume. I’ll let you know. Thanks, Dan
