From: Department of Health Services

Hello Shafaq Patel,
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has received your open records request dated July 12, 2019. We are happy to work with you to determine what information you need and provide you with what we can. Unfortunately, your request as-written is too broad for us to respond to.

Wisconsin law provides that open records requests must be reasonably specific as to the subject matter and length of time involved. Wis. Stat. s 19.35(1)(h) and (i). The purpose of the specificity requirement is to prevent unreasonably burdening a records custodian by requiring the custodian to spend excessive amounts of time and resources deciphering and responding to a request. Schopper v. Gehring, 210 Wisc. 2d 208, 212-13, 565 N.W.2d 187 (Ct. App. 1997).

We would like to have a telephone conversation with you at your earliest convenience, so that we can discuss your request and hopefully understand what specifically you are looking for. Could you please provide us with a telephone number and let us know when would be a convenient time for us to call you?
Sincerely,
