To: Matthew GuarigliaFrom: Chief Maruzo-BolducRef: MRAP ("Mine-Resistant Vehicle")1. The Willimantic Police Department MAXXPRO MRAP was acquired as part of the national 1033 program. The MRAP was awarded to those police departments that have a SWAT (special weapons and tactics) or SOG (special operations group) teams. Our vehicle was acquired at Ft. Drumm, NY in 2013. There are no specific proposals, contracts or budget items associated with this vehicle. We have no cost allocations, or budget line items associated with the vehicle. 2. We have a drivers training / instruction on CD Rom. The cost of the CD is the standard $35.00. The drivers training power point included in the CD has been approved by the 1033 program from Battle Creek MI. 3. The Willimantic Police Department MRAP has been utilized for monthly SWAT training scenarios, Touch a Truck Day and other type community events.4. The Willimantic Police Department MRAP was acquired after an officer was shot in 2013 and we had difficultly evacuating the office from the scene, at that point it became apparent that a "rescue vehicle" would be an excellent resource. The "anticipated scenarios" for the MRAP include: Active Shooter scenario, Office down in need of medical, and /or citizen rescue. Additional information can be acquired through the department Public Information Officer Corporal Stan Parizo.Respectfully,Chief L. Hello Chief L. Maruzo Bolduc,
I am following up on my request to acquire the CD-Rom that accompanied the vehicle you received through 1033. I would gladly pay the required fee .
Dear Matthew Guariglia We are working on making a paper copy for you request (it will be much cheaper then the $35. CD Rom), please give me 24 hours to reach out to the staff for this copy. I shall get back to you shortly.Chief L Maruzo-Bolduc "One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it's worth watching."
Hello Chief L. Maruzo-Bolduc,
Thank you for your reply. I would prefer to pay the $35 for the CD-Rom version, presuming it is a PDF, is actually much more convenient for me as I plan on uploading the documents to my computer.
A copy of documents responsive to the request.
Dear Matthew Guariglia Its already printed out and on my desk, do you want me to send it via mail or would you like to pick it up?Chief "One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it's worth watching."
I would be glad to pick it up tomorrow at the Willimantic Police Department around Noon. Thank you for your cooperation.
Matthew, I will put it in a envelope at the front window with your name. Just come into the front doors, pick up the phone to talk to dispatch and tell them I left an envelope for you. Interesting stuff on muckrock. Chief "One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it's worth watching."
