Pursuant to the Kansas Open Records Act (K.S.A. 45-215), I hereby request the following records:
Any and all available dog licensing and registration data for animals within Wichita, KS.
Please include all available segregable data, including but not limited to:
• the type of animal
• the breed of the pet
• the pet's date of birth
• the pet's name
• the owner's address or applicable zip code
• any other available notes
Also, I am requesting that the data be sent in Excel format.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Hello Ms. Buster,
Thank you very much for your message and the estimated costs. Because the costs do not cover any of the charges associated with copying, I'm wondering whether you could provide a sense of how many materials will be obtained during the estimated 3 hour search. We'll be happy to provide fees, but I'd just like to get a sense of what's driving them, since we're conducting a nationwide survey for this information, and fees have typically been nominal.

Beryl, I spoke with the employee actually pulling the data, there was a total of 35,500 total cases that she found for your request which she had to sift through and correct errors to make sure you have a clean report. There is no additional copying charges as it will be electronic.
