Pursuant to the Kansas Open Records Act (K.S.A. 45-215), I hereby request the following records:

Any and all available dog licensing and registration data for animals within Wichita, KS.

Please include all available segregable data, including but not limited to:

• the type of animal
• the breed of the pet
• the pet's date of birth
• the pet's name
• the owner's address or applicable zip code
• any other available notes

Also, I am requesting that the data be sent in Excel format.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Though you directed this to the “Wichita Public Records Officer,” you sent it to Sedgwick County Government. I am Freedom of Information Officer for Sedgwick County Government, NOT for the City of Wichita. Sedgwick County Government does not have jurisdiction within the City of Wichita for pet licensing and does not have the records/information you seek – you need to direct a request to the appropriate City of Wichita agency.

I checked the City of Wichita website, and it appears that its Animal Control function is organizationally part of the Police Department – please see http://www.wichita.gov/WPD/SupportServices/Pages/AnimalControl.aspx for contact and other information.
