Pursuant to RCW Ch. 42.56 (Public Records Act), I hereby request the following records:

A log of public records requests submitted to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is made in the process of academic research and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

We are in receipt of both you public records request and they have been combined and assigned number 16-0121 for tracking purposes. You requested:

1) A log of public records requests submitted to the Board of Education that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present; and

2) A log of public records requests submitted to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.

The OSPI public records office handles all public records requests for the State Board of Education, the Professional Educator Standards Board, and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Because all public records requests are routed to the same office, all requests are logged together. Therefore, the logs you requested may contain requests directed to either the State Board of Education, the Professional Educator Standards Board or OSPI. Additionally, pursuant our retention schedule, we only have public records logs dating back to 2009.

The attached documents contain all the records responsive to both your requests. There were no documents withheld or redacted in fulfilling this request and we now consider this request closed.
