In regards to your first bullet point: In CEDARS we collect state course codes and there are 4 state course codes that encompass journalism. Here are the course codes:

11101
Journalism
Journalism courses (typically associated with the production of a school newspaper, yearbook, or literary magazine) emphasize writing style and technique as well as production values and organization. Journalism courses introduce students to the concepts of newsworthiness and press responsibility; develop students' skills in writing and editing stories, headlines, and captions; and teach students the principles of production design, layout, and printing. Photography, photojournalism, and digital technology skills may be included.
11147
Journalism and Broadcasting-Independent Study
Journalism and Broadcasting-Independent Study courses, often conducted with instructors as mentors, enable students to explore topics of interest related to journalism, broadcasting, and mass media. Independent Study courses may serve as an opportunity for students to expand their expertise in a particular application, to explore a topic in greater detail, or to develop more advanced skills.
11148
Journalism and Broadcasting-Workplace Experience
Journalism and Broadcasting-Workplace Experience courses provide students with work experience in a field related to journalism or broadcasting. Goals are typically set cooperatively by the student, teacher, and employer (although students are not necessarily paid). These courses may include classroom activities as well, involving further study of the field or discussion regarding experiences that students encounter in the workplace.
11149
Journalism and Broadcasting-Other
Other Journalism and Broadcasting courses.

Although we collect this information from school districts, we do not currently have this information available in a summarized public format. We anticipate we will have records for you by the week of March 30th, 2020.

In regards to your second bullet point: We do not have this information. Individual school districts may have a list of these groups.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Thank you,
Lisa

Lisa,

Thank you for your response on this request. Regarding the March 30, 2020 date, is that for the information regarding the 2018-19 academic year or the 2019-2020 academic year? For now, I could take the 2018-19 academic year information until this current year's information is available.

Thank you,

Alexa

From: Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction

Alexa,

The March 30, 2020 due date is for the 2018-19 school year data. The 2019-20 school year data won't be available until the 2020-21 school year.

Thank you,
Lisa
