To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to RCW Ch. 42.56 (Public Records Act), I hereby request the following records:

All documents pertaining to the closed consumer complaint in your office with the internal tracking number 443575. It refers to a complaint about a “Chevron and Texaco Business Card.”

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. The requester is a journalist working for a Congressionally-accredited periodical.

If you intend to acknowledge receipt of this request or give me an internal tracking number, please do so via the same means used to communicate this request to you. (For instance, a reply to the original email.)

We would prefer that any questions about the request be asked via the same communication method. However, if you need to explain or ask something complicated, you may call us at 202-813-1032, extension 120. We will memorialize phone conversations via email afterward.

In the event that there are fees, please inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically--by e-mail attachment, or if the response is too large, direct download link or mailed CD-ROM.

If mailing a CD, please alert us of this fact via reply email (so we know to wait on the post), and send the CD to:

Mr. Smith –

Thank you for your below public records request; it has been assigned the above file number and we ask that you please reference that number on any future correspondence regarding this request. Please note that we have 5 business days to respond to your request. Your request was received on Monday, May 8, 2017, meaning that the acknowledgment deadline is Monday, May 15, 2017.

However, we were able to gather and review the records prior to that time and have attached them to this email. There are 20 pages (BS3-00001 – BS3-00020). Also enclosed with these responsive documents is a key to the codes indicated as black boxes with a code, i.e., [1a], centered. The key identifies the statutory bases for the exemption as well as a brief explanation for why the exemption applies. As you review the responsive documents, you will be able to refer to the key to identify the exemption and its application.

We have made every attempt to apply consistent redactions on documents that contain the same information. In the event you locate documents that contain redactions that are not applied consistently, please let us know.

Please contact me at the below email address or at Office of the Attorney General, Public Records & Constituent Services, P.O. Box 40100, Olympia, WA 98504-0100, if you have any questions. We will now consider this request closed. Thank you.
