Mr. Purvis,

This letter acknowledges the receipt of your recent Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The fifteen-day statutory time period permitted to process and respond to your request begins on the first full workday after the receipt of your request. In calculating this time period, Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays are excluded. When we have completed your request, you will receive a written response advising you as to the availability of the requested records, the cost (if any) for the search and duplication of the records, how to obtain copies of the available records, and your appeal rights.

Dear Mr. Purvis:

I attempted to email you on September 26, 2013, but received an error message. In response to your FOIA request for copies of recordings and ShotSpotter reports for all ShotSpotter activations in Northeast D.C. for the month of March 2013, I am attaching a report from ShotSpotter of the shots fired and detected by Shotspotter from 2006 to 2013. Although not exactly what you requested, I would ask that you review the document and see if this is adequate for your needs.

If you would still like the data that you originally requested, please be aware that each of the reports must be individually generated and may require more time. In addition, the FOIA Office is experiencing some delays because of the volume of its work.

Please respond as to how you wish us to proceed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your patience.

From: Carlton Purvis

Teresa,

Thank you so much for the data. That is very helpful. Would you be able to provide a single audio recording and the name of the unit in MPD responsible for compiling this data?

Thanks,

Carlton
