To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
All reports or memoranda detailing:
- the total number of prisoners over age 50, or whatever age DOC defines prisoners as senior/elder, held within the Virginia DOC system between 1995 and the time this request is processed.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Dear Mr. Nash,
This office is in receipt of your requests for information below. The Department of Corrections maintains a document entitled, Geriatric Offenders with the SR Population (July 2014) that is responsive to your first request which asks for the “total number of prisoners over age 50, or whatever age DOC defines prisoners as senior/elder, held within the Virginia DOC system between 1995 and the time this request is processed.” You can access that report on our public website at http://vadoc.virginia.gov/about/facts/default.shtm. With regard to your second request, wherein you ask for documents providing, “any projections for the total number of geriatric/elder prisoners during the next 10 years” no such documents exist. Thank you for contacting the Virginia Department of Corrections.
