Pursuant to Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

- All emails mentioning Rolling Stone, "Jackie" or Sabrina Rubin Erdely sent or received by President Teresa A. Sullivan between January 2013 and the time this request is processed.
- All memos or reports mentioning Rolling Stone, "Jackie" or Sabrina Rubin Erdely issued or created by the Sexual Violence Education and Resources office or the university's Title IX coordinator between January 2013 and the time this request is processed.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your FOIA request, copied below. We are still working to determine what records we have that may be responsive to your request, and we need to invoke the seven work-day extension (See Va. Code §2.2-3704(B)(4)) to provide a response by January 14th. Please note that University offices reopened on January 5th after being closed for the holidays. If additional time, beyond the seven-work-day period, is needed in order to fulfill your request, we will make reasonable efforts to reach an agreement with you for records production as required under FOIA. Va. Code §§ 2.2-3700 and 2.2-3704(C).

We are experiencing an unusually high volume of requests at this time. We ask for your patience as we work to process your request as quickly as possible.

I am writing in response to your recent request under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Va. Code § 2.2-3700 et. seq., copied below for your reference. Each portion of your request is addressed in turn below:

· For the portion of your request seeking “all emails mentioning Rolling Stone, ‘Jackie’ or Sabrina Rubin Erdely sent or received by President Teresa A. Sullivan” please note that under FOIA, the University of Virginia shall withhold records when their release is prohibited by law, or the University may exercise its discretion to withhold records in accordance with a specific FOIA exemption. Pursuant to FOIA’s exemption for correspondence of the president of any public institution of higher education in Virginia, the University is exercising its discretion to withhold the correspondence of President Teresa Sullivan (See Va. Code § 2.2-3705.7(2)).

· For the portion of your request seeking “memos or reports mentioning Rolling Stone, ‘Jackie’ or Sabrina Rubin Erdely issued or created by the Sexual Violence Education and Resources office or the university's Title IX coordinator,” the University has no records responsive to your request. (See Va. Code § 2.2-3704(3)).
