Pursuant to the Vermont Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Guidance, including guidance to state and local elections officials and Secretary of State IT staff, avoiding, detecting or mitigating ransomware attacks on elections systems during the 2020 election cycle, on best practices for state and local elections officials accessing or storing sensitive information, including voter databases, and evaluations about the threat of ransomware disrupting the elections.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Hello Allan,
I have received your records request, forwarded from Gabe Gilman. I am the records officer for the Secretary of State's Office and will respond to your request. I am out of the office for the next two days and then Vermont has a statewide primary election on Tuesday so I would appreciate additional time to respond. In any case, I should be able to get the response to you no later than Friday, August 21 and fully expect to respond well before then.
We will not charge for this request and all documents will be delivered electronically.
