To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

I am interested in files leading up to the "Y2K" event which was to take place in January, 2000.
I would like any files that relate to the preparations your agency undertook before 1 January, 2000, and any documents which may be related to analyzing the impact of the event (if there was any).
Please include any handwritten materials and/or electronic (email), inter/intra agency discussions about this event, or any handwritten notes about this event and its potential impact to your agency.

The "Y2k bug" (also known as the 'Millennium bug") was an event which was thought to impact computer systems circa the first date of the new millennium (year 2000). This bug caused many organizations throughout the world to consider their how their computer systems may be touched by this event, and make preparations to update systems and mitigate technical concerns around this issue. Please see the brief National Geographic attachment for more information.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Emily Crose
