Re: Freedom of Information Act Request Number: 2016-066

Dear Mr.Best:

This letter is in response to your Freedom of Information
Act (FOIA) request dated April 17, 2016 and received in the Office of
the Pardon Attorney (OPA) on April 19, 2016. I apologize for the delay
in responding to you but our office is dealing with a backlog of
requests while managing the Department's Clemency Initiative. Pursuant
to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552 et seq., you
requested records relating to, mentioning or describing the Wedtech
scandal and investigations of it.

Please be advised that the Office of the Pardon Attorney assists the
President of the United States in the exercise of his constitutional
executive clemency power. In the future, if you would like to request
information related to the topic of presidential clemency, please email
us at PardonAttorneyFOIA@usdoj.gov
<mailto:PardonAttorneyFOIA@usdoj.gov> .

After carefully reviewing the records responsive to your request, I
have determined that 1-document containing 3 pages of a news article
are responsive and appropriate for release in full under the FOIA. All
of the responsive pages are attached to this email and no responsive
pages have been withheld.

For your information, Congress excluded three discrete categories of
law enforcement and national security records from the requirements of
the FOIA. See 5 U.S.C. § 552(c). This response is limited to those
records that are subject to the requirements of the FOIA. This is a
standard notification that is given to all our requesters and should
not be taken as an indication that excluded records do, or do not,
exist.

If you are not satisfied with my final response to this request, you
may administratively appeal it by writing to the Director, Office of
Information Policy (OIP), United States Department of Justice, Suite
11050, 1425 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20530-0001, or you may

appeal must be postmarked or electronically transmitted within 60 days
of the date of my response to your request. If you submit your appeal
by mail, both the letter and the envelope should be clearly marked
"Freedom of Information Act Appeal."

Sincerely,

William N. Taylor II
