To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the DC Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

A copy of the the US institute of Peace's budget for the fiscal year 2018.
Any analysis created by this agency regarding the U.S. spending on military and weapons.

Additionally, an email search providing the last 50 pages of correspondence. I am interested in emails between individuals in your office and government agencies that reside within Washington, DC (from the date this request is received and going back, please print the email into a pdf until 50 pages are produced.) If this email request is too broad I will be willing to discuss with you how to narrow it down to a specific agency and individual to receive responsive documents I am interested in.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 15 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

John Ricker

Hi,

I just wanted to check up on my information request. I originally submitted it 12/20/2018 and have sent 3 automated follow ups. I have received no acknowledgement or communication and am showing that this request is rather overdue. Could you please acknowledge that you have received my original request and provide a status update?

Thank you,
John Ricker

Mr. John Ricker,

Forgive the delay in responding to your request(s)! We have just become aware of a glitch in our FOIA link. It has now been corrected, however until yesterday I was unaware of your original request and your subsequent follow-ups.

1) Per your request, attached is USIP's 2018 Congressional Budget Justification summary.

2) USIP has never created any analysis regarding US military spending and weapons. Our work is focused on avoiding, mitigating and reconciling international violent conflict.
3) Your request for the last 50 pages of correspondence is too broad and too vague for a response. Please narrow your request and be more specific about the information you are trying to obtain.

Again - apologies for our system problems and I will provide more timely responses in the future,
Kathie
