To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

All records on, about, mentioning, or concerning Van Cliburn, born Harvey Lavan Cliburn Jr. (July 12, 1934 – February 27, 2013). Proof of death is not required because his 2013 death from bone cancer has been widely reported.

From Van Cliburn's obituary in the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/28/arts/music/van-cliburn-pianist-dies-at-78.html): "Van Cliburn, the American pianist whose first-place award at the 1958 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow made him an overnight sensation and propelled him to a phenomenally successful and lucrative career, though a short-lived one, died on Wednesday at his home in Fort Worth. He was 78. His publicist, Mary Lou Falcone, confirmed the death, saying that Mr. Cliburn had been treated for bone cancer."

Place of birth: Shreveport, LA
Place of death: Fort Worth, TX
Citizenship: USA

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
