Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
As per the CDC website page titled "COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Case Investigation and Reporting":
"As of May 1, 2021, CDC transitioned from monitoring all reported vaccine breakthrough cases to focus on identifying and investigating only hospitalized or fatal cases due to any cause. "
Records relating to the decision to cease monitoring all reported vaccine breakthrough cases. Emails containing internal discussions, supporting documents, and other records that might be relevant to understanding the decision.
Records relating to the scientific reasoning for why it is not longer necessary to maintain full situational awareness breakthrough cases as variants spread, public behavior changes, and public health measures are rescinded.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
