Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
A public records request to the city of Boca Raton revealed that the US Secret Service purchased Magnet Forensics for the city some time before November 2017. Therefore, I request the following records:
- A list of all American cities for which the Secret Service has purchased Magnet Forensics.
- A list of all American cities for which the Secret Service has purchased software tools that specialize in digital investigations, online surveillance, or social media monitoring.
- A copy of all documents associated with these purchases—including contracts, grant applications, payment forms, payment orders, service agreements, and terms of service.
Please note that documents associated with a "city" may name a City Clerk's Office, Police Department, or another local/municipal agency.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. It will be used in the course of reporting for Motherboard, VICE’s science and technology website (www.motherboard.vice.com).
