"The more expansive request came when an agent in the FBI's counterintelligence division emailed the deputy general counsel at GSA to preserve documents, electronics and communications from the Trump transition team, according to documents CNN obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request."

"As a follow up to our request, we thought it best to send GSA an official preservation letter. Your staff has been extraordinarily responsive and we appreciate their patience with our (my) questions," the agent wrote, according to the email obtained by CNN.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Kenneth Whittle

From: General Services Administration

Dear Mr. Whittle,

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your U.S. General Services
Administration (GSA) Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request
(GSA-2018-0001435), submitted on July 16, 2018, in which you requested the
following:

Please be advised that we continue to consult with DOJ, FBI and DISA as
noted in your 1st interim release and will release records on a rolling
basis once a release or denial decision has been made.

affected, and as a result there may be an impact on the timely response on
your FOIA.
We do apologize for this inconvenience and seek your patience and
understanding during this time.

Thank you kindly.
Respectfully,
