Dear Mr. Martin:

Thank you for submitting your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to
the National Archives and Records Administration, via the *FOIAOnline*
website. We received your request on January 4, 2019, however, due to the
partial government shutdown, we could not access it until our office
reopened on January 28, 2019. We regret the delay in acknowledging
receipt.

This office handles FOIA and Privacy Act requests for the National Archives
and Records Administration's *operational* records (records created by this
agency). Because your *FOIAOnline* request is for *archival* records
(records that were created by or originated in a different agency but that
may have been transferred to the legal custody of NARA), we have forwarded
it to our *Office of Research Services, Special Access and FOIA* staff who
handle FOIA requests for archival records.

Since the *Office of Research Services, Special Access and FOIA* does not
process FOIA requests through *FOIAOnline*, your request has been removed
from the *FOIAOnline* website and you will be assigned a new tracking
number by that office within the next 20 business days. If you would like
to follow up with that office directly, please contact them at the address
below, or electronically via email.

From: National Archives and Records Administration

Mr. Martin--

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information Act request for
records in the custody of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Your request was received in this office on February 6, 2019, and assigned
FOIA case number *RD 60292*.

You requested access to case file number *100-HQ-345490*, identified by the
FBI as potentially responsive to your request for records relating to Ty
Hardin. My initial assessment confirms that *Presentation Incorporated, aka
Presentation Associates, Inc.,* is in fact the main subject of this
file. *Orison
Whipple Hungerford, aka Ty Hardin, only appears on a few pages* of the
file. The file has an estimated 500 pages, compiled as part of an internal
security investigation conducted between June 1946 and September 1958.

This file requires screening for categories of information exempted from
disclosure under the terms of the FOIA, prior to public release. In
particular, there are documents that may be redacted to protect the
identities of confidential sources, including FBI informant codes and
informant file numbers.

I have assigned your request to our first-tier processing queue, which
handles requests that do not exceed 500 pages. Taking into consideration
our existing backlog, the estimated time required to complete the
processing of your request is approximately 24 months from the date of this
letter.

To notify this office of a *change in your contact information* or to *track
the status of your request*, please telephone 301-837-3190
<(301)%20837-3190> or e-mail specialaccess_foia@nara.gov. If you have
specific questions regarding the subject of your request, please contact me
directly at Amanda.Weimer@nara.gov or at 301-837-0604 <(301)%20837-0604>.
All communications concerning this request should reference your case
tracking number *RD 60292*.

opportunity to discuss our response, you may contact our FOIA Public
Liaison for assistance:

Dear Mr. Martin,

I am writing you as a courtesy to inform you that the current structure of
the tier for which your case is assigned, FOIA case number 60292, has been
revised to include requests for pages up to 700 pages. Since your request
includes approximately 500 pages your case will remain in this same queue
and there is no action for you to take at this time. To give you an
indication of our existing backlog for Tier 1, we are currently processing
requests received in June 2013.

As a result of an office effort to improve efficiency and potentially
decrease the amount of time your case is in our processing queues, we have
updated our processing queues to the following structure:

● Tier 1:Requests that do not exceed 700 pages

● Tier 2: Requests for records totaling between 701 and 3000 pages

● Tier 3: Requests that exceed 3000 pages

If would like to narrow your request, you are welcome to do so by
contacting our office using the contact information below. Additionally, if
you no longer wish to receive these records we ask that you indicate such
in writing to our office.

If this correspondence is returned as undeliverable and no new contact
information is provided within 90 business days from the date of this
letter, your case will be administratively closed.

We will continue to process your case in the order that it was received.
You will receive a final letter once review and processing is complete.

date of this letter. Appeals must be in writing and may be delivered by
regular U.S. mail or by e-mail. By filing an appeal, you preserve your

with an opportunity to review your request and reconsider its decision. If
you submit your appeal by regular mail, it should be addressed to the
Deputy Archivist of the United States (ND), National Archives and Records
Administration, 8601 Adelphi Road, Room 4200, College Park, Maryland
