Gerri Lewis,

I'd like to suggest that you read over this blog post from OGIS: http://blogs.archives.gov/foiablog/2012/02/03/how-to-invite-a-foia-lawsuit/

Here, The FOIA Ombudsman writes on "How to Invite a FOIA Lawsuit" where the number one way is "Failing to give a requester an estimated date of completion" which begins: "The 2007 amendments to FOIA require agencies to provide requesters with an estimated date of completion..."

Please let me know if after reviewing this information, the TSA would like to change their policy concerning providing an estimated date of completion.

Thanks.

Regards,
Jason Smathers

I never received your "still interested" letter. Yes, I am still interested.

I would have assumed that my frequent requests for status updates would have given you the idea I was still interested. In fact, I sent a request for a status update on 11/13/2012, the very same day you say the request was closed for no response from me. I also sent unanswered status request to this email address on 8/15/12, 9/14/12, 10/14/12 in addition to the many since then.

Please reopen this and continue processing as it was clearly closed in error.

Good morning,
Your FOIA request has been received in the office for processing and assigned case number 2014-TSFO-00027. Our office has received a high volume of requests which has resulted in a backlog. It is TSA’s practice to assign requests into one of two tracks based on the complexity of the request and to process cases within the two tracks on a first-in, first-out basis. Your request has been assigned to the complex track. At this time we anticipate an additional eleven months if complex track to complete the processing of your request. If you are interested in narrowing the scope of your request to reduce the processing time, we are available to discuss this with you, either by email to this address or by telephone at 1-866-364-2872.
