Hi Matthew,

We are subject to the Federal Freedom of Information Act, and not the Maryland Public Information Act. We will process under that law. Under the FOIA, we have 20 working days to respond. Let me know if you would still like to proceed with your request.
Thanks,
Marianne

Good morning,

Please note that you have filed a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA). The Maryland Public Information Act applies to the state not the federal government.

At this time I can provide a rough estimate of the end this month or the beginning of February. We process cases on a first in first out basis and will strive to get you these records as soon as possible.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,
Elisabeth

Good afternoon,

I am still processing your request for product documentation and system documents. However, I wanted to make you aware of two things.

The source code, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and data schemes are parts of the over system code and programming. NLM doesn't share source code for retired products. NLM's Office of Computer and Communication Services researched this question and determined that because the source code is developed specifically for the NLM computing environment, sharing the software could pose a security risk. And, since the software is designed specifically for the NLM environment, NLM could also not ensure it would offer stability or security in another environment. Therefore, NLM doesn't provide the source code for any NLM retired products.

For datasets, please go to EPA since NLM was not the originator of the data. We have provided information about this on the web at https://www.nlm.nih.gov/toxnet/index.html. There is information on this page that states:
"Underlying data remains accessible through their original resources: Government of Canada National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI)<https://www.canada.ca/en/services/environment/pollution-waste-management/national-pollutant-release-inventory.html>, U.S. Census Bureau<https://www.census.gov/>, U.S. EPA Clean Air Markets Program<https://www.epa.gov/airmarkets>, U.S. EPA Geospatial Applications<https://www.epa.gov/geospatial/epa-geospatial-applications>, U.S. EPA Facilities Registry System (FRS) <https://www.epa.gov/frs> , U.S. EPA Superfund Program<https://www.epa.gov/superfund>, U.S. EPA Toxics Release Program (TRI)<https://www.epa.gov/toxics-release-inventory-tri-program>, U.S. NIH NCI Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER)<https://seer.cancer.gov/>, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)<https://www.nrc.gov/>"

Please let me know if you would like to exclude the source code, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, data schemes, and datasets from your request as soon as possible. Understand that if you do not agree to exclude these items I will have to transfer this request to the NIH OD Office for final processing, once my portion is complete. They have a backlog and I am not sure how long it will take them to respond to you.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

Elisabeth
