From: National Archives and Records Administration

Hello,

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request
of February 1st, 2018, for records in the custody of the National Archives
and Records Administration, specifically regarding the film *TEMPEST: Its
Diagnosis and Treatment*. Your request was received in this office on
February 8th, 2018 and assigned FOIA case number *RD 55962*.

The film you are referring to is available in the National Archives
collection under the following citation:

*330-DVIC-608265*

However, this title has not yet been reviewed for declassification by the
originating agency (in this case, the United States Air Force), and
therefore the film requires further screening prior to being made publicly
available. This request will be added to the Air Force's review queue, and
once this action has been completed, the declassification process will be
initiated and you will be notified.

We do not consider this response a denial under the Freedom of Information
Act. However, if you are not satisfied with our action on this request,
your options for appeal and dispute resolution are outlined in the attached
enclosure. You may appeal, in writing, within 90 days of the date of this
letter. Address your appeal to the Deputy Archivist of the United States,
National Archives at College Park, 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park,
Maryland, 20740, and explain why you think our search does not meet the
requirements of the FOIA. Please indicate that yours is a FOIA appeal and
refer to your case number on both the envelope and the letter.
Alternatively, you may e-mail your appeal to foia@nara.gov. Please note
"Freedom of Information Act appeal" in the subject line of your e-mail and
be sure to include your case number.

This concludes the processing of your request.

Archivist - Motion Picture, Sound, and Video Branch

Dear FOIA requester,

This is an initial response to your FOIA request for film TEMPEST: its
diagnosis and Treatment.

Your NARA case number is NW 55962

The National Archives and Records Administration has limited authority to
release national security or other sensitive information. Pursuant to 5
USC(a)(6)(B)(iii)(III), if you have requested information that is
classified, it will be necessary to send copies of the documents to
appropriate agencies for further review. If the records are unclassified
but we determine that there are other sensitivities, such as personal
privacy, NARA will conduct a review of that file.

Because you have requested a film, we are identifying this case as a
complex request. We are currently processing complex requests from 2016.

*If you have an additional mailing address you wish to provide, please do
so. *

*Please be sure to notify me of any change in mailing address as any mail
returned undeliverable will result in your case being closed.*

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Sincerely,

David Fort
