Silk Road anonymous marketplace (FBI)

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

All records on, about, mentioning or concerning "Silk Road" (aka: Silk Road
anonymous marketplace, aka: ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion). An online anonymous buying and selling service that is only available via the TOR network at the address ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

I find it difficult to believe that the FBI has no record of Silk Road. The Silk Road Anonymous Marketplace is a well known internet marketplace for illegal drugs, guns, credit card fraud, etc.

I ask that you do an additional search, tasking the appropriate parts of your agency that handle such crimes.

Hi David,

Were this request (1170137-000) and (1170137-002) combined into one response? They were largely similar, but the latter was originally submitted to the DoJ which then referred it to the FBI.

Did the 5-30-12 include responsive documents? No responsive documents were ever received, although this request was reopened with additional information.
