In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Ms. Luangaphay,

We require clarification regarding your request. This is not an area that the Commission is generally involved in. Were there any particular records you were searching for? Also, which bureaus/offices of the Commission would you like us to search? A list of bureaus and offices can be found at https://www.fcc.gov/about-fcc/organizational-charts-fcc. Please let us know how you would like to proceed no later than April 8, 2016. If we do not hear from you by then, we will assume you are no longer interested in this request and will close it as withdrawn.

We note that your request was not properly filed with the Commission. Section 0.461(c) of the Commission’s rules requires that a FOIA request be mailed to the Managing Director, sent via e-mail to foia@fcc.gov<mailto:foia@fcc.gov>, filed electronically through the Commission’s website at http://www.fcc.gov/foia, or faxed to 202-418-2826 or 202-418-0521. You sent your request directly to a Commission staff person. While generally we attempt to channel such misdirected requests into the FOIA system, your request was intercepted by the Commission’s junk e-mail filter, and thus your request was not noticed by the staff person until today. We will therefore treat your request as filed on February 25, 2016.

Ms. Luangaphay,

Apologies – I was under the misimpression that your request was sent to a staff person rather than the foia@fcc.gov<mailto:foia@fcc.gov> e-mail address. You did properly file your request. However, due to the junk mail filter, it was not received by staff in the Commission’s FOIA office until Friday, February 19, and was not assigned to a component office for searching until today. Therefore, we still propose to treat your request as filed as of today, February 25, 2016. Please let us know if you have any objections to this. Once you provide clarification, as noted below, we will promptly process your request.
