To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

The September 2011 CMC monthly report.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Mr. Smathers,

Receipt is acknowledged of the following Freedom of Information Act requests:

August 26, 2011 - for trademark/licensing applications submitted between Feb 1, 2011 to
date. Your Case File Number is HQMC-201100692. Initiated the processing of your
request. Awaiting response from cognizant office.

August 26, 2011 - for the August 2011 CMC Monthly Report. Your Case File Number is
HQMC-201100693. Being Staffed for comment on releasability of input information.

August 26, 2011 - for the trademark license requests regarding Marine Corps energy drinks/USMC condoms. Your Case File Number is HQMC-201100694. Duplicate of
your request 201100250. Received CD with information in the processing of review
to determine release of information.

October 18, 2011 - for the September CMC Monthly Report. Your Case File Number is
HQMC-201200040. Being Staffed for comment on releasability of input information.

I regret the delay in responding to your request Mr. Smathers. Please know
that I am working diligently trying to respond to all that we receive here at Headquarters.
Since August, we have been down to one Analyst and that is me. I had my own cases,
and inherited quite a few of the other Analyst cases and new requests continue to pour
into this Headquarters.

Status Update on a few cases:

For the January 2011 and April 2011 CMC Monthly Reports. Near completion.
I am checking about March 2011 for I do not see a case file for that report however, it
was requested by Ms. B. Gonzalez before she left. I am in the processing of contacting
her about it. If you have information pertaining to it, please share with me.

When you request a copy of a CMC report. I have to task one office to retrieve
the report, then I have to task that report to all Headquarter 18 Departments/Divisions to comment on the releasability of their input and organize responses to our taskers, review the comments, and redact the information accordingly. This is a huge undertaking for one Analyst with over 250 pending requests to be completed and 30 per week to respond to within statutory time limits.

I will do my best. Next week I hope to complete a couple of your previous requests. Please note however, that the more requests being sent in takes precedence for in-processing over pending requests to be completed. Unfortunately, most requesters think they are the only requesters. At this Headquarters alone we process 700 more requests per year than all Marine Corps Activities World-wide. I would like to get around to answering your requests. Just sharing information Sir. This is the reality of it.

Thank you Mr. Smathers.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Three things will last forever-faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love. 1Corinth 13
