RE: 2018-01348-FOIA-OS Mr. Carlos Gamez Via E-mail: requests@muckrock.com
Good afternoon, Mr. Gamez.  This e-mail is in regard to your June 19, 2018 FOIA request.  To summarize the general tenor of your request, you sought records and reports pertaining to detained immigrant children; you also sought communications between HHS Secretary Azar and the Department(s) of Justice and Homeland Security on this subject. Our agency is still searching for records responsive to your FOIA request.  We apologize for any delays that have occurred in processing this request.   HHS has experienced an increase in the volume of FOIA requests submitted during the past year; that, coupled with staffing vacancies in this FOIA office, have impacted our processing times. Again, we regret the delay. Sincerely, Deborah Peters, FOIA\Privacy Acts Division, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs **************************************************************************
