This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

Files that mention or are related to Alabama State Sen. Walter C. Givhan (1902-1976) and the White Citizens' Council of Alabama, of which he was state chairman during the 1950s and 1960s.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Looking at your case notes, A Cost letter was mailed to your attention 5-14-2015 asking for a response as to if you’d like the FBI to continue to search for potentially ident files. A decision must be returned to the FBI by 6-14-2015 or your request will be administratively closed. Your request for a fee waiver was denied and this notification was also mailed to your attention 5-14-2015.
