Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
All records previously processed under the Freedom of Information Act that mention or or pertain to a person named Robert Ersol Berchtold. This person was born on February 7, 1936 and died on November 11, 2005.
Proof of death is not required, as Berchtold's death has been widely reported in news media and online obituary databases over the past 14 years:

If no previously-processed documents are found, please conduct a new search entirely. Please search in the Central Records and Electronic Surveillance (ELSUR) indices, as well as cross-reference documents.
Please be aware that at least one retired employee of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, lead investigator Pete Welsh, has acknowledged that the agency created records regarding Robert Berchtold, in the course of investigating claims of kidnapping and other felonies in the 1970s. Welsh was interviewed for the documentary "Abducted in Plain Sight," which was released in 2017 and re-released in 2019.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
