Communications
From: Michael Morisy
To Whom It May Concern:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
A copy of all responses sent to Congressional committees between Jan.1, 2008 and the date that this request is processed. These communications are stored together and should be easily accessible.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Michael Morisy

Mr. Morisy,
Good afternoon, I'd like to clarify the scope of your request. Do you wish to
include Subcommittee Chair letters? Your request identified "Committee
Chairs", but did not mention Subcommittee Chairs.
From: Turner, Kimberly J.
Sir,
Your request was received and assigned control number 13-129. We are
continuously working on requests on a first-in/first-out basis. Your request
is number five in the DCMA simple queue. As of today, some of the records you
have requested have been located. We will finalize processing of your request
based on that queue order.
Should you have additional questions, feel free to contact me.
From: Michael Morisy
Hi,
Thanks for your help. If it wouldn't make my request burdensome or unprocessable, I would appreciate you including subcommittee chairs.
Thanks!
From: Williamson, Donna V.
Sir,
I believe the subcommittee chairs were included in the 48 responsive documents. I remember the action officer inquiring about that and I told him they should be included; I need to verify that he did, in fact, include them. Let me know about my questions at your earliest convenience.
VR,
From: Williamson, Donna V.
Mr. Morisy,
With regard to your DCMA Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, which has been assigned FOIA control number 13-129, a search for responsive documents was conducted and approximately 48 responsive documents (responses to Congressional Committee Chairmen) were located. Since many of the responses contain attachments, some containing up to 500-700 pages, we need clarification on your request. You have two options in this regard. (1) Limit your request to (only) the actual correspondence, which will not cause any undue delays in processing time; or (2) include the attachments in the scope of your request. Option 2 will cause your request to be placed in the "Complex" processing queue and will obviously require additional time to complete. First, many of the attachments contain proprietary information and will require that we execute the Executive Order 12600 process. Additionally, the attachments have not been reviewed for release under the FOIA.
Since the second option will cause a considerable delay, may I suggest that you limit the scope of your request to the actual correspondence and then, depending on the content of the correspondence and related attachments, you could file additional request(s) as appropriate?
Finally, DCMA needs to ensure that your request is properly placed in the appropriate fee category; is this information being requested by MuckRock on behalf of a requester?
Once we have received a response from you, we will proceed with the processing of your request. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully,
Donna V. Williamson
