This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
A copy of all responses sent to Congressional committees between Jan.1, 2008 and the date that this request is processed. These communications are stored together and should be easily accessible.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Mr. Morisy,
This concerns your FOIA request for copies of "all responses sent to Congressional committees between Jan. 1, 2008 and the date that this request is processed." I apologize for the delay in our acknowledging receipt of your request. Please be advised that, while the Department does maintain a database of official correspondence, that database does not allow for searching to be done in a way that would readily identify the records you are seeking. Put differently, while this Office could search for records from a specific member of Congress or concerning a particular subject, we cannot search for "all responses sent to Congressional committees" as the relevant database is not so organized. As such, I am inquiring into your interest in either identifying a specific member of Congress or a particular subject so that this Office can conduct a search for responsive records. Alternatively, you can limit your request by identifying the Chairperson of the Congressional committees(s) of interest to you. We can then search for all correspondence with that member of Congress, excluding any correspondence not made on behalf of a committee.
