To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

I request copies of information and records on myself, John Arthur Kirsch. (See attached and completed DOJ Certification of Identity form.)

I was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on May 10, 1952. I graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1984. I was a newspaper reporter in Iowa and Texas. I am currently an editor for an English language publishing company in Mexico City.

I request any "cross-referenced" records mentioning me.

I also request a search of “ELSUR” (Electronic Surveillance) records that mention me.

I also request any information or documents, especially photographs, regarding an anti-war demonstration I participated in in front of the Federal Building in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, in the early 1970s, most likely in the period of 1971 to 1973. At the time I was a student at Drake University in Des Moines.

While the demonstration was going on, I noticed a man across the street taking photographs of us. I approached the man and asked him who he was and why he was taking pictures of us. He did not answer and continued taking photographs.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is not being made for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

John Kirsch
