Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Summary and Objective for Request on Speed Reading in the United States Air Force:
Provide a brief synopsis on the origin of speed reading in the history of the United States Air Force.
(Speed reading is any of several techniques used to improve one's ability to read quickly.)
The following facts are to make up this report:
1. Why did the United States Air Force first express interest in speed reading (what was the driving motive(s) or need(s))?
2. Who were the main people involved (their names, occupation, and role as well as the dates of their participation)?*
3. What was the first speed reading program for the United States Air Force (please provide the programs name, date when program began, main people involved in the program*, place where the program took place)?
4. What was the term(s) given for speed reading if it was under a different term(s) during those times and events?
Provided with this FOIA Request is a document file attached in PDF format that provides factual statements from journal articles that prove the history and usage of speed reading in the U.S. military (not just the the United States Air Force) which the requester thinks may be of aid to the agent researching and processing this FOIA Request.
*Main people can include- but is not limited to- researchers, scientists, doctors, inventors, funders, military officials who were appointed as the administration and / or overseers for the department involved in speed reading as well as those military personell who were the primary groups that composed the inductees for speed reading.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
