From: John Kirsch
To Whom It May Concern:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
I request that you conduct a complete and thorough search of all filing systems and locations (including ELSUR records) pertaining to any affiliation or connection between Mary Ferrell and the Minutemen, the militant right-wing group. Please make a search under any aliases or like names of which the bureau may be aware.
Mrs. Ferrell amassed a large database on the assassination of President Kennedy and other events. She passed away in Dallas in 2004. This is a link to her obituary in The Dallas Morning News: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dallasmorningnews/obituary.aspx?n=mary-elizabeth-mchughes-ferrell&pid=1958846
I'm including the following material to aid your search. It is an excerpt from a post titled "For Mary" at https://bobdorff.wordpress.com/ (The unnamed woman in the quote below was Mary Ferrell.):
"During the conference in San Francisco she and I didn’t have much time to talk. During a brief break she mentioned she had been a member of the “Women’s Auxiliary of The Minutemen.” And that her husband Buck belonged to “The Minutemen.”
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
John Kirsch
