Request for flight restriction over Ferguson, Missouri (FAA)

To Whom It May Concern:

On August 12, 2014, Denver Nicks, a reporter for TIME, [wrote][1], "The St. Louis County Police Department told TIME it asked the FAA for the flight restriction after a police helicopter was fired upon `multiple times' during civil unrest Sunday. [...] The [order][2] says the flight restrictions were put in place “to provide a safe environment for law enforcement activities.” The FAA would not elaborate further on the reason for the St. Louis County Police Department’s request. `If you want it, file a FOIA,' FAA Spokesperson Elizabeth Cory told TIME, in reference to a Freedom of Information Act request."

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

All records related to St. Louis County Police Department's request for flight restriction, including but not limited to that which Elizabeth Cory of FAA offered to TIME reporter Denver Nicks on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, along with associated metadata.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
