Dear International Trade Administration at the Department of Commerce,
I wish to get access under Freedom of Information laws to the database powering the Privacy Shield list at privacyshield.gov. In particular if this helps narrow down my request and make it more effective, I wish to have access to the database containing logs and other metadata, as my goal is to understand when and how the email address for the company "Facebook, Inc." was removed, which seems unusual and different from the situation for all the other companies I have looked at.
Sincerely,
Paul-Olivier Dehaye
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Paul-Olivier Dehaye

Hello Mr. Dehaye,
Your FOIA request to the Department of Commerce was received and assigned to ITA for processing.
In order for ITA to process your request, it would be helpful to amend the language of your request so that it is reasonably described under the FOIA. For example, your request could be amended to something akin to the following, with a date range for responsive records added as well:
"Records that document the removal of Facebook, Inc.'s email address from the Privacy Shield list at privacyshield.gov."
Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you and feel free to follow up with any questions.
