Hello,

Which agency within the United States Department of Labor (DOL) do you believe may have these records? If you need help determining an agency, then please have a look at the US DOL's agency descriptions available at http://www.dol.gov/dol/foia/agencies.htm. Please, respond only through foiarequests@dol.gov<mailto:foiarequests@dol.gov> or fax your response to 202-693-5389.

Hello GIS Karamoko,

Thank you for kindly replying and having the patience to help perfect the request.

I have a document from NYC Department of Investigation that suggests that a complaint regarding Vito Lopez was sent to the DOL (it does not indicate which office) in 2012, in a matter concerning either a bribery or kickback, possibly through a labor union. I believe the Office of Labor-Management Standards seems the most suitable candidate for receiving and investigating such a complaint; however, if there are other reasonable candidates, please do not hesitate to search them.

The document by NYC DOI and suggestion of OLMS are purely as a finding aide or reference. If there is additional material regarding Mr. Lopez or Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council, this should be regarded as responsive to the request.

Many thanks,
TM

Hello,

Upon further inspection of the New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) redacted attachment you provided, under the "Results of Investigation" section the DOI "decided that moving forward with the DOL (US Department of Labor) requested interviews at this juncture would jeopardize the progress" made in the DOI case. Therefore, DOL would not have records related to this subject matter as it was handled at the state level. In addition, OLM (Office of Labor Management Standards) would not have any responsive records, as this matter was not related to any unions.

If you find my assessment to be incorrect, then please have a look at the DOL's agency descriptions available at http://www.dol.gov/dol/foia/agencies.htm and determine which agency is most likely to have the records you are requesting. Per the Department of Labor's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) regulations, 29 C.F R. ยง 70.19(b), "To make a request for records of the Department, whenever possible, a requester should write directly to the FOIA office of the component that maintains the records sought or, if emailing a request to the DOL central FOIA mailbox, should identify the component(s) to which the request is directed."

Please note that fees may be assessed, even if there are no responsive records provided. Please, respond only through foiarequests@dol.gov<mailto:foiarequests@dol.gov> or fax your response to 202-693-5389.

Sincerely,
