Good Afternoon MuckRock News,

I apologize for any unresponsiveness on behalf of RDECOM.

Please note that your FOIA request is being processed by RDECOM under FOIA Tracking Number RDECOM FOIA FA-18-0010 and is currently under Subject Matter Expert (SME) Review.

RDECOM has been tracking your request since January 11, 2018, however, I was only recently hired as the RDECOM FOIA Officer and the position has been vacant for quite some time. Due to the loss of personnel, the RDECOM FOIA backlog is extensive as a result, however, we are diligently working to respond to all of our requests in a timely manner. Your request is being processed on a first in, first out basis in accordance with 32 CFR Part 518.8(d)(1). Due to the need to coordinate an SME Review of the document, I have determined that unusual circumstances apply.

As soon as I receive a response from the SME point of contact, I will notify you of an estimated response date.

If you have any additional questions regarding the status of your request, please feel free to contact me directly. If you need further assistance to discuss any aspect of your request, you may also contact the Army FOIA Public Liaison Officer, Ms. Alecia Bolling, by email at us.army.hqda-oaa-ahs.mbx.rmda-foia-public-liaison@mail.mil <mailto:us.army.hqda-oaa-ahs.mbx.rmda-foia-public-liaison@mail.mil> or by telephone at 703-428-6238.

Good Afternoon MuckRock,

Your request is still pending Subject Matter Expert (SME) Review. Since your request is currently number 17 in our queue, and because we handle backlogged FOIA cases on a "first in, first out basis," I expect to provide a response to you by November. Please feel free to contact me in the next month for another status update if you don't hear from me by then, as cases sometimes move faster than we anticipate.

Thank you for your patience as we process your request.

V/R,

Kelly
